The first series of The Voice Kids UK is over, and 13-year-old Jess F has been named as the inaugural winner of the series.

Jess F, who was taken under the wing of mentor Pixie Lott on Team Pixie, wowed the judges from the start of the competition, making it through the blind auditions, the battles and impressing with her performance of Louisa Johnson’s “Tears” in last night’s semi-finals to take part in tonight’s live final (July 16).

The six final kids competed for the public’s vote – as well as a trip to Disneyland and £30,000 to put towards furthering their music career.

The live final saw the kids tackle some pretty big songs, including Ariana Grande’s version of “Beauty and the Beast” , with impressive performances from all of the finalists, including winner Jessica who sang Beyonce’s classic “Love on Top”.

As this is, after all, a competition for kids, it was notably less cut-throat than other TV reality contests. It was all smiles when host Emma Willis revealed that all six of the final kids would be getting a VIP experience at Disneyland, regardless of who won.

Mentors Danny Jones, Pixie Lott and will.i.am were full of praise for all of their contestants, but it was Jess who managed to pip the others to the post and take the crown after the vote was opened to the public for the first time.
